Chinese New Year 2022: Year of the Tiger

Chinese New Year 2022, or Spring Festival, falls on Tuesday, February 1st, 2022. Celebrations culminate with the Lantern Festival on February 15th, 2022.

Chinese New Year is the longest holiday of the year. The Chinese New Year has no set date. In 2022, Chinese New Year begins on February 1st and ends February 15th with the Lantern Festival.

The New Year greeting in Chinese is “xin nian kuai le” which literally means “Happy New Year.” In Hong Kong and other Cantonese-speaking regions, it’s more common to say “gong hei fat choy.” In Mandarin Chinese, it’s “gong xi fa cai” which means “congratulations on the fortune.”
